Our Mission
To get tradespeople working on the jobs in their communities
About
Too often we are seeing contractors hire and bus in workers from other states because it's cheaper. Meanwhile, our own construction workers are commuting several hours each day to job sites no where near where they live. We believe that local jobs should go to local residents, and that if you live and pay taxes in a community, you should be able to work there, too. Focusing on Staten Island and the Bronx, our goal is to get local tradespeople working on the jobs in their neighborhoods. We are accomplishing this by petitioning politicians to require contractors to hire local and by spreading awareness of this issue throughout the community. Our belief is that a tradesperson should be able to work in the community where they live and spend.
LiveWorkSpend is an initiative by the New York City District Council of Carpenters to put more New York City residents to work on the jobs being built in their local neighborhoods.
